PROCLAMATION |
WHEREAS | the order of St. John Ambulance is bringing 900 years of community service into the new millennium and through the centuries the white cross of the order of St. John has been a symbol of selfless aid, providing support and assistance during war time and in peace; and |
WHEREAS | the St. John Ambulance's mission is to enable Canadians
to improve their health, safety and quality of life through training and community service; and |
WHEREAS | St. John Ambulance has been part of Canadian's history for over 118 years; and |
WHEREAS | the year 2001 marks the International Year of the Volunteer and St. John Ambulance is the oldest volunteer organization in the world with a
history that dates back to the time of the crusades; and |
WHEREAS | in the year 2000, approximately 132 members of the St. John Ambulance No. 10 Adult Division and YO 166 Cadet/Crusader Division donated approximately 7,200 voluntary community service hours caring for the member of the public that were ill or injured at public events in the City of Regina; and |

WHEREAS | St. John Ambulance Week is to raise awareness of dedication of the St. John Ambulance volunteers who serve the residents of the City of Regina. |
NOW THEREFORE I, Pat Fiacco, Mayor of the City of Regina, do hereby proclaim the week of June 24 to 30, 2001 as ST. JOHN AMBULANCE WEEK
in Regina, and in issuing this proclamation, ask our citizens to recognize this week. |
