A history of caring ... for almost 1,000 years the white cross of the order of St. John has meant service to others. Worn originally by the
merchants of the Italian republic of Amalfi, the white cross was adopted in 1023 by Benedictine monks who cared for the sick and injured in the Holy City of Jerusalem at the time of the Crusades.

The Order of St. John has four grades - Serving Sister/Brother, Officer Sister/Brother,
Commander and Knight/Dame of Grace. Read about Jean and St. John (and that's not John and St. Jean! ) |
