Proud of his Scottish heritage, William became a member of Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association following a long family tradition.  Originally established in 1876 to help widows and children of Scottish decent in Canada, the organization continues today to celebrate and preserve Scottish culture.

Sons of Scotland

Both sets of William’s great grandparents came to Canada from Scotland. Great Grandfather, David Clive, joined the Sons of Scotland in Toronto in the early 1900’s and after coming west, joined Camp Balmoral #177 Chapter.  Grandfather, Gordon Clive and Great Aunt, Marjorie Gardiner, also members of Sons of Scotland, went on to each hold the office of Past Chief.  Great Uncle Gordon Gardiner held the office of Past Grand Chief of Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association of Canada.
